A Prayer Entitled, “Worn Edges”

Father,

Today is a worn-edges day:

energy is hard to find

a full-tank is a fond memory

joy is a far-off friend.

Worn and frayed, a scarecrow without its stuffing am I.

Then there’s YOU:

always strong

always full

“in YOUR presence is fullness of joy.”

Remind me that today is just that, a day.

That this week is just that, a week.

Teach me that there are new morning mercies,

even at 3:19PM.

Clothe me in YOUR strength:

which neither frays nor wears.

Feed me with YOUR food:

which is to do YOUR will.

This we pray in the NAME of JESUS:

who leads from strength to strength,

and shares with us the fullness of GOD.

Amen.
